About Paradromics
Paradromics is building an advanced brain computer interface (BCI) platform engineering neurotechnology solutions for unmet medical needs. A revolutionary leap beyond today’s research-grade BCI, our Connexus® BCI collects neural signals at an industry-leading, high-data rate and is designed for long-term therapeutic use. With the brain in direct communication with digital devices, we can leverage technology to transform how we treat conditions ranging from sensory and motor deficits to untreatable depression and pain management—allowing millions of people to live happier, healthier, and more enriching lives.
The Role
Paradromics is looking for an Electrical Engineer to contribute to circuit designs across our implantable systems and non-implantable support and test systems. You will be involved in all phases of the design - from collaborating with the team during schematic capture, through floor planning and layout, all the way through manufacturing and assembly. You will work closely with a team of mechanical and electrical engineers to generate new designs optimized for our packaging and thermal constraints. You will prepare designs for team reviews, integration into our quality systems, and procurement and assembly. Further opportunities exist to participate in schematic and system level design, assembly, and test, according to your skills and interests.

Responsibilities
- Study PCB design trends and processes and then evaluate and implement those processes that apply to Paradromics core technologies. Specifically, you should be an expert in designs that require very small feature sizes and tight component clearances.
- Perform complex and difficult CAD and CAE tasks requiring extensive skill and knowledge of equipment capabilities, applications techniques, and design limitations. Ideally, you are an expert in Altium, although expertise in other PCB layout software will be considered.
- Participate and provide recommendations into the PCB design specifications and standards with respect to product design, electrical design, manufacturing, and various regulatory agency requirements to figure out design trade-offs necessary to meet design goals and produce high quality PCBs with full consideration of cost and scheduling tradeoffs.
- Conduct design feasibility studies to evaluate the PCB design goals for packaging, cost, manufacturing, and system performance. Propose PCB design trade-offs to the engineering design team for resolution and implementation.
- Maintain technical coordination with Engineering, Products Design, Test, EMC Engineering and Manufacturing. Resolve PCB design issues with fabrication and manufacturing vendors. Passionately participates in the evolution and definition of Paradromics Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines.
- Assist junior PCB Designer(s) in the resolution of critical design problems. Train PCB Designers in specialized areas of PCB design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience with high density custom printed circuit board layouts
- Experience with advanced PCB design techniques, including blind and buried vias
- Ability to work on multiple designs in parallel
- Very strong analytical skills
- In-depth understanding of analog and digital electronics building blocks
- Clear communicator, self-starter and detail oriented
- Ability to clearly communicate with vendors for prototype and production manufacturing
- Multiple completed and built PCB design projects in Altium Designer
- Experience designing rigid, flex, and rigid-flex assemblies
- Experience with mechanical engineering 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks) a bonus
- Previous experience in bringup and debug of digital and analog circuits
- Experience working under a quality system in a medical device or other heavily regulated industry setting
- Proficiency with version control systems and collaborative development practices
